Horses Available to purchase
Each year, we offer a limited number of our foals or young offspring to the public and even more rarely, one of our mares or a broke gelding. Many of these horses are either slated to attend the summer shows, or were in our show string in years past. All of our youngsters are extensively handled with appropriate training for their age and growth stages. When you buy from us, rest assured that what is advertised is what you will get!
**New in 2022** We have started to offer consignment services on a limited basis for friends and clients. These horses are carefully evaluated and represented using the same standards of quality and transparency that we employ in marketing our own prospects.
We want our customers to be thrilled with their new addition and to be confident in coming back to purchase another!
Lucasia Ragnarock DOB 2/20/2023 (LD's Legacy Yammer Hammer x Knepp's Rachel)
In early spring of 2024 "Ragnar" as he has become known here at the farm arrived. Our friends at Lucasia Ranch inspected colts from 2023 and sent us a good one to take to the summer shows in the states for the 2024 season. This confident and attractive colt is going to make someone a fantastic partner in any future endeavor! Ragnar currently measures 16.3 and is expected to mature near or at 18hh. He has a fantastic work ethic and loves to have something new to do during his lessons. He has received age-appropriate lessons in body control (yielding shoulders/hips, backing, isolating movement to a single leg, sidestepping, etc) and has been introduced to lunging, in addition to taking walks around the property to inspect new sights. He has good stall manners, stands calmly tied (both straight or in crossties) is good for clipping and bathing and wrapping/handling legs. Ragnar is very adjustable in his gaits - if you are looking for a horse who can generate a big, powerful trot and then gear back to a slow, effortless jog and then step into a fluid and soft canter, this is a colt to consider. He could be a serious competitor in both under saddle and driven events as a mature horse. Ragnar is very smart and fun to work; he loves spending time with his people learning some new skill!
Ragnar attended a few summer shows with us; the National Percheron show (held during the Indiana State Fair), the Iowa State Fair and the LaPorte County draft horse show. He had very respectable placings at all of them and was calm and professional in the new settings. He settled in like he'd been to dozens of shows and took all the new sights and sounds in stride.
Ragnarock is priced at $5000
Tradewinds Hawkeye DOB 3/16/2024 (Tradewinds Benchmark x A&E's Heather Lynn)
When Hawkeye was born, all we could say was "Wow!". He is a big, long necked and very correct colt who should be a fierce competitor at halter as a junior horse before going on to a riding/driving career. He is broke to lead and tie and knows some body-control cues. He is excellent for grooming and general handling and has been enjoying daily walks around the property to inspect new things. He is expected to mature in the 17.2-18hh range.
Hawkeye competed at the National Percheron Show and Iowa state fair this summer, placing 1st in his age class and coming back to win Mare and Foal with his dam, at both shows.
***Sold, congratulations Ian!***
